Consulting

Imaging walking through your garden paradise with a cup of coffee in the morning and munching on fresh, organic berries unlike anything you can buy at the store.  With thoughtful design you can provide many of your own needs right on your property.
Tending Nature is available to design your edible landscape, homestead or forest garden.  We are experienced with high-altitude, arid climates and would love to help you start growing your own food.  Even in cold climates there are many perennial plants that will flourish and there is no better time to start your permaculture haven.  We can design a holistic system for your property that is low maintenance and has very little water needs allowing you more time to enjoy your landscape.  Specifically, we can help you maximize water use and storage, determine the best plants to implement for the highest yield, house and care for small livestock, and safely compost humanure and all other organic material to create rich soil.
Decades of experimentation on our own property in southwest Montana have given our homestead the foundation it has today.  Our current inspirations come from continued building, gardening, and trials on our farm, but we have also been fortunate enough to study permaculture and other techniques over the years through some highly respected institutions and teachers, including:
Sepp Holzer
Warren Brush with Quail Springs Permaculture
Dave Jacke with Edible Forest Gardens
Brad Lancaster
Michael Pilarski
Jerome Osentowski with Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute
Art Ludwig with Oasis Design
